Chief Investment Officer at UM
Jon is Universal McCann’s Chief Investment Officer, responsible for $9 billion of the agency’s media negotiation and partnerships including clients like Fiat Chrysler, Hershey, Sony Pictures, QuickenLoans and Coca-Cola. He is an executive member of MAGNA representing the media intelligence unit of IPG Mediabrands. He helps develop the market & consumer insights, negotiation strategy and partner innovation plans to better enable clients’ media efficiency and effectiveness outcomes.
Previously Jon worked at Publicis’ Starcom MediaVest Group as EVP Director of Investment & Activation overseeing all of General Motors media execution in the U.S. He began there in the development of the new multi-agency investment unit for Kraft called KraftOne. This new organization combined the expertise from various Publicis entities, MediaVest, Digitas and MV42 multicultural to service all Kraft divisions and brands with a uniquely coordinated integrated media team.
Prior to joining SMG, Jon was Director of Investment and Partnerships for Unilever in both the U.S. and Canada for 8 years. Outside of driving branded content best practice and long term partnerships with major media companies, Jon helped influence interactive television to Unilever brands. This innovative application of new and traditional media, ultimately was integrated into the digital marketing mix garnering success both in ROI and creativity awards.
Jon has served on various committees such as the Association of National Advertisers, Alliance for Family Entertainment and advisory boards of emerging media companies. Currently he is a Co-Chair of the YMCA of Greater New York Development Committee.
Jon graduated from Lehigh’s School of Business & Economics in 1992 with a BS in Marketing and currently lives in Pelham, NY with his wife Carrie and son Jason.
